Moving home

Moving house is never easy. It is one of the stressful activities a person can experience. Home shifting consists of tiresome tasks, lots of hassles and many unpleasant issues. I started the process of shifting house a couple weeks ago, after house warming (Ganpathy Homam) was performed on 21st November, 2012. First, I identified the items no longer needed – either donated to servant lady, sold them as weights or ruthlessly discarded. The worldly possessions were packed into cartoon boxes or plastic gunny bags, and the important materials including documents (files) were carefully filled into cases. After organizing all details I hired a group of people (flat mate were helping) with a van to shift to a new home at Murali’s Park Avenue under same postal area code.

The last time I moved house was from a rented house in Mariappanagar( a village area) to University quarter (1 KM away) at Annamalainagar. It was exciting, moving to a totally new township area, where we had been for the past unforgettable 8 years. We ate our final breakfast at R.S.A. housing complex, Annamalainagar  at around 9.30 AM on 5 December, 2012. Two trips of van load belongings transited our day to life to fit into new home at Murali’s Park Avenue. Once we were in new home (apartment) it suddenly started appearing as fantastic inhabitable place to live. The same previous house which looked fine earlier next day seemed like an inhospitable and very depressing place. Thus our life at an apartment at Murali’s Park Avenue started on 5th December 2012.

Buying and owning a house is an important moment in everyone’s life. Owning a home remains a dream of most people in India, and I am of no exception. Nonetheless it is complex, complicated and serious issues since a great part of our earned money goes to own a decent home.  Though I already owned a place to live in my native place, the thought of staying in own home in the working place during working years always remained back in mind. My family members used to say that one day they would like to own a home near to working place where they would do and decorate the home as per their likings.

Sometime in mid August 2012, I got chance to see a near-complete apartment in Murali’s Park Avenue close to Shanmuga Vilas Sweets (SVS) and immediately saw potential : large living room, a relatively large bed room, a pretty exterior, lots of lights streaming through southern balconies and windows, and a pleasant dining space. Best of all, I liked the location even better than the Chidambaram Municipal area. I finally brought this apartment on 5th September (when agreement was signed). Moved on 5th December 2012 we are fully involved in the process of making the home our own.
